Impact of Cronyism in Mexican Multinationals. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the effect of Public Private Dialogues PPD on cronyism accounting for various cultural and governance institutions. It then examines how these economies have gone through major economic events—recessions, depressions, and global economic crises—and how these changes have led business groups to refocus on domestic markets. This is arguably attributed to building trust in cultures characterized by having low general trust and low trust in governments. Emphasis is given to both the similarities and differences in group governance and performance and the implications for Asian international competitiveness are addressed.
